The digital orchestra is a project developed by the Université Côte d'Azur and led by Gaël Navard, in association with the Conservatoire de Nice. It is intended for students of the Université Côte d'Azur who will be able to play there from the start of the 2021 school year.

Description:

UCA's digital orchestra is made up of MPE instruments and new electronic violin makers. The idea is to offer a new ensemble in the idea of a chamber orchestra 2.0. The Université Côte d'Azur commissioned a work from me in order to develop a repertoire for this unprecedented training. Currently in the creation period, the piece will be directed by a conductor, it will include written parts as well as improvisation areas, where everyone can express themselves. A first time is planned for the creation of the work, then a second time will be granted for rehearsals and set up with students, during the last quarter of 2021. The orchestra can be moved and can be installed in different places according to the requirements. events: concert halls, schools, museums, etc.

Goal :

The objective is to open up culture and musical practice for all. Each student wishing to learn about music will be able to register for it without any prior obligation. The musical work will allow students to discover or develop a musical practice, group play, listening, personal interpretation, musicality, etc. It will allow the musical game to be framed in an established structure, learning to follow musical codes and rules led by a conductor. But also to be able to develop one's own creativity and personal expression thanks to improvisation periods. The objective is therefore to allow a musical practice accessible to any student wishing it while developing his personal expression.

Calendar :

The composition is being created (1st semester 2021). A finalization is planned for September 2021. Then a beginning of rehearsal, discussion and implementation with the students on the last quarter of the year.
